Is the drive clicking or making any other unusual sounds? I have a W.D. my book edition that died recently. The problem with W.D. is that the H.D.D. is not accessible. They have stupid outer shell that makes disc extraction problematic.

@hateyourbauman : Data recovery is always quite expensive, about 500 to 2500$, becouse it’s very hard to recover your files.

I think it doesn’t matter what hard drive you are working upon. Because if it is a case of physical damage , no software can help you. In this situation one must consult a hard drive recovery specialist. If u want an online support just google for hard drive recovery and experience the top ones Like Stellar phoenix, salvagedata etc.

    WHAT DO YOU HAVE …
WHAT DO YOU HAVE WITH ROMANIAN AK ?

I am from Romania and I have a broken Seagate too… so the problem is when you drop the hard disc (especially the external ones) they usually don’t resist at a shock in excess of 350 Gs … maximum amount of Gforces the hard drive can take, dropping it gives about 100 :( but it depends on what surface you drop it and in what position it falls.

try to put it in freezer for half an hour n plug it in…if windows can recognize it BACKUP ALL DATA INSIDE IT.if that is not working ,try gently smack the side of the hard disk n see if it is working…if all above fails, then the hard disk is really dead n ur only hope of backing up ur hard disk is to bring it to a specialist..goodluck
